Lol, got another one. Recently in cartoon character design class, we've been studying UPA style (y'know, IZ, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff girls, etc) and we had to choose a series for inspiration. I chose IZ, for nostalgia's sake and had a lot of fun with Jhonen's style. A lot of people in my class were all like «Whoa, you're good at this!» and I just look sideways and mumble: Yeah, I had an Invader Zim phase a while ago...

One thing that happens a lot in school:

«Hey Swing, I like what you draw, do you have an online gallery?»
«Err... maybe? But I don't share it with people I know in real life. It's full or weird stuff.»
«Aw come on, I can take it.»
«It's slash. You know slash, right? Means yaoi, gay, guy on guy action?»
«Oh... yeah, I'm okay with that, it's all over the internet. I'm open-minded.»
«It's alien slash.»
«Err.. okay...»
«Invader Zim slash.»
«...That exists?!?»

That is sooo unfair! I wonder if my English teacher likes ZADR. He was a huge Pokemon fanatic, so it's possible. I was actually telling my friends I didn't know whether to put a lemon in a story I was writing or to edit it out, because my mom was prying and wanted to read it. He told me to write it the way I wanted, and that my mom should be proud enough of my creativity to accept a love scene.

My mom is super-conservative and isn't really accepting of slash pairings because of it. (I'm the same way- ZADR is the only male/male pairing I ship, because it's just so canon.) Anyway, she found a pretty tame ZADR doodle I'd done, which I know because it appeared with a big stack of my papers she'd gathered up for me. A few days later we were talking about how society's morals are dropping, and she brought up the homosexual thing.

It makes me wonder if she's concerned... -hides XXX ZADR doodles under mattress-

I have another story. It's worse... I was reading the ZADR Voodoo Dolls of Doom comics for the first time -squees with joy at the memory- and I had each page open in a separate browser tab so I could keep reading it without waiting for the Internet to load. I was using my dad's laptop.

A few days later, I asked my dad to use his computer and he said it was fine. He lingered in the kitchen while I turned it on and it was starting up, and finally he said, "But none of that triple-x cartoon stuff." and walked out of the room.

I SWEAR, I ALMOST DIED.

Apparently I left one or two of the windows open after I let him get back on the laptop that night... UGH. Now he knows I'm a closet slash/xenophilia addict...

Watching Invader Zim with my five year old step-sister. It's key to note that I've tried to keep yaoi as far away from her as possible because her parents are very religious and I don't want her saying something she shouldn't and then get me into trouble.

Well the block we're watching is the Keef episode and the one where Zim goes inside of Dib to erase his memory (and make him not smart no more).

During the Keef episode, when Zim and Dib glare at each other across from the cafateria, she asked me if Dib was Zim's boyfriend. I laughed and made that my Facebook status.
In the other episode, after Dib eats the nanoship, she said she thought they were friends so why are they fighting and I answer "because they hate each other"; she thinks about this for a moment then replies "Well then why do they act like they love each other?"

If a five year old can see it...

My english teacher knew what it was and liked it. 8D; It was weird having her read it over my shoulder and tell me "I love those two. If you want to put them in a story I won't mind." then comment on a ZADR pic I was working on and walk off. XDD But it was awesome at the same time. One of those "...did...that just happen?" kinda moments. XD

I used to have my ZADR fics up on this account, right? Well my dad frequents this account to see what I've drawn or written as of late. XD I went over to visit him one day and the convo went something like this:

Me: Hey dad. 8D
Dad: Hey. ^^ Read some of the stuff on DA.
Me: 8DD;; Oh?
Dad: Yeah. It's good. But how do you get so indepth with cartoons like Invader...uhm...Zim, right? That's what it's called?
Me: Yeah. XDD;; Uhmm...Just...do?
Dad: And you put Dig and Zim together...why?
Me: It's Dib, Dad, and...because I wanted to?
Dad: ....Okay. Now, about that story, there were a few parts I thought you should look at *goes into editor mode*
Me: 8D;;;

And then later he asked if the stories were going to get anymore explicit (except far more bluntly. Just can't remember exactly how he put it) and I told him I didn't know. XD

Anyway, I'm done with story time. 8D >> To be honest, far more glad it was my dad and not my mom who read any of it. XD

But yeah, no shame. :3 My littlist sister thinks I'm wierd, got my middle sister hooked, dad doesn't care either way, mom's oblivious (and should stay that way for her own health X3;; ) and my girlfriend just rolls her eyes. Girlfriend's mom says it's cute. XDDD;;

My sister found my binder Owo; I had a 'cute' ZADR on the cover so she had no idea what was inside... she's okay with the idea and even drew a couple of ZADRs for me for special occasions like my b-day and x-mas 83 One time though, she was telling me she'd drawn a mighty explicit one and when she was coming home to visit, airport security confiscated it D: She was mad cuz she said she'd worked real hard on it. Colored it too! *sobs*

Hee. Was caught drawing it and had room mate say "D'awww, that's cute. Is that supposed to be you and your boyfriend?". Proceeded to give two hour ZADR lecture which was responded to with "So, like, they're all gay or something?" XDD Humans.

When I was drawing 'Don't Be Ashamed' Mom was watching me and asked "Why did you color her green???".. My eyes got big and I said plain out, cus its an alien.. and its not a girl.. she looked at me and said.. "O! Yeah, you like that gay stuff.. Okay then" and walked away ^_^.

one day I picked up my best friend's green pen and started sketching out an elaborate make out ZADR scene on the back of her neck, then all of a sudden in the middle of my drawing (this was in English class) she gets called to the office, and she's all spazy when she get's back because her mom (who totally disproves of all things homosexual) is her to pick her up xD;;

my little brother (11), yeah he is beginning to suspect I like ZaDr and he is just like...

"eww...your just crazy what happened to my sister who still had that ounce of sanity?"

I reply:

"Umm..this isn't ZaDr this is...umm... LEAVE ME ALONE!"

and my little sister who is 5 has said without any knowledge of the fact that such a couple exsists said

"I like Zim and Dib they look good together."

I think I almost died laughing... as soon as she comes of age she will be allowed into our ranks!

My brother's only two, but I'm already scheming to make him a ZADR fanboy. I've already made him sit through the entire IZ House box set (he loved the animation) and shown him a few ZADR pics in the club gallery. Once I even read a chapter our of BRB suicide to put him to sleep. xD My parents have no clue what I'm doing... But god, it's so fun!

I've been caught drawing it a few times by people next to me in class, then they realized it was drawn in a fake-o anime way (that doesn't even resemble iZ style) and that my notebooks are filled with random drawings of androgynous looking guys and girls so ZaDr seems like the kind of thing that would be expected XD Although questions like "Dude, where's her nose?" and "Why is its eyes so massive?" and "When will you stop drawing bug people?" still pop up.

So last year during Science, the class was giving presentations on ecosystems.  The projector takes up the whole wall, which is about 20 feet tall and wide.  The night before, my friend Kitty-Mayhem had given me a ZADR picture of her to color and I put it on my jump to transfer to her computer the next day.

Well, sense science was our first class of the day, we didn't have time to do that.  My presentation was on the same jump, so I did that and everything went just fine.  Halfway through the class another girl asks if she can borrow my jump to put her power point on.  I said sure and she did that, went to give her presentation, and got distracted by something else she saw.  She said "oh, what's this?" and opened the ZADR file for the whole class to view.  Everyone burst out laughing, and me and Kitty-Mayhem turned so red we sank down under our seats in embarrassment.  The teacher rolled her eyes and said "take that down and give us your presentation", so our classmate did.  Still, my friend and I couldn't get over the fact that had just happened.  No one has let us forget it, even to this day.  I'm just glad the vice principle didn't come in, she was standing right outside the classroom!  Boy, would we have been in trouble if she did!

I tend to keep my weird stuff away from my mum, but my dad is pretty open minded for a south american dad. So, a couple of years ago, when he saw me doodling some pretty tame ZADR, he simply asked if it was about that show I made him watch (first ep in shanish, lol) then sat through the whole ZADR lecture finding it amusing as hell. He's the same dad that doesn't mind that I rape his childhood memories when I slash Star Trek now. Actually, I convinced him that both ZADR and Kirk/Spock are true XD My papito is the awesomest ever.

I wish I had a little sibling to show ZaDr too. I have a story that's a little similar to Neji355's story. I was riding the bus to school and was very bored so I took out the novel we were reading in English class and started doodling ZaDr on the last page and I liked it so much that I started coloring it. Well later that day our teacher wanted to show us where the "About the Author" page was in all our books, so she picked up my book from off of my desk and held it up and opened it to show everyone the "About the Author" page... which just so happened to be right where my drawing was. My teacher and all of the kids in class saw my ZaDr picture, some people were giggling but I didn't get in any trouble. It was actually kind of funny because I bet half of them were thinking "Why's that chick green?"

a while back when I had first started drawing ZaDR and showing it off to my friends, I had also begun writing a multi-chapter story (you can find the beginnings of it on my ff.net account, mail me if you want it. xD) that was about six chapters long. Anyway, I had also just begun school in a new town and so I didn't know many people. Everyone I asked if they liked Invader Zim, then if they said yes and I asked if they knew what ZaDR was, usually looked confused or gave me the, "Oh so you're one of THEM" looks. xD There was this boy in my first hour art class that sat all the way across the room but directly across from me, and I was becoming better friends with him (we ended up dating )

So one day when I had my story with me, I went across the room and began talking to him and he, seeing the stack of hand-written chapters, asked what they were. Now mind you I'm not shy about my ZaDR so I promptly told him what it was. Looking back on it now I'm sure he didn't quite understand what I meant by ZaDR and so I'm sure he though it was just something merely Invader Zim. Well then he asked to read them. I handed over the stack of papers and smiled at him before going to sit back down. The next day he comes in and gives them back to me, looking slightly horrified. I had some pretty explicit stuff in the later chapters, so I think that's what really got him. XDD I had asked him if he liked it and he told me I wrote well; I found out later after I began dating him that he actually HATED the story. But he did like that I wrote so well. XD

Every time I mention that to him, his face gets red and he accuses me of raping his childhood. XD

first of all, my parents are divorsed, and i was at my moms house. my step-dad is from Michigain. now, my real mom is okay with it, and mabey she even supports it, and my dad, i think he secretly likes it well, i was in his room, because that was where i could get some internet at the moment, and he came in. i instently minimized every thing on my laptop and closed it, because i was reading a ZADR story. (well, i do that to every one) he got suspisious and called my mom in. we had to explain to him exactly what ZADR was and why i had closed it down.

i also remember thi one time where i had copied a ZADR poem into my drawing book, and forgot it was in there. i had taken the book to school to show my friends. when my friend Rachel found it she was like, "ooooh! wahts this?" i told her it was nothing, but she read it any way. she said it was really good, and i told her i didnt wright it, but how i felt dirty that it was in my book. she showed her friend and she also said it was good. Rachel said she wanted to show it to the teachers, and after a while of begging and pleeding, she didnt.

I was getting out one of my binders for class and my friend had drawn me a ZADR picture for my birthday so I put it on the front...my teacher walked up to me to check my homework and stared at it then shook her head and laughed...I later found out that she knew what it was cus another student got caught with some...explicit pictures :/ I don't know how I'm going to look her in the face without laughing and secretly wondering if she like it XD

So when I first got into ZaDr i had never realy drawn couples before so I started pouring over books about couples be it girl/boy or boy/boy.
Well after to sitting through my advanced placement classes for like ever I found that I had a free period so I pulled out my boy/boy book and got started trying to sketch or at leats out line some poses for practice.
Now i'm the weird type of brainiac who wears combat boots and either all black or rainbow clothes and so i'm usually left in my corner doin my own thing. Well not that day, it seems that i was needed for some art thing for home coming. So the Class Pres came to me, She is a sneaky fox girl ( i'm also half deaf so that did not help). I had never had someone to talk to about Zadr ect so I was when she was like.... " Sally what is that?" She totally caught me by surprise.
Now i'm more open and stuff about it but originally it was my little guilty pleasure so I was like what oh ummmmmm (Stalling ) I'm doing a study on human anatomy for an art prodject, yeh and sence all you have to do to get a girl is add boobs...... ( Turning redder by second)... Its something for a friend.
Hahahaha looking back at it, it was like I had been caught reading a dirty magazine or something. She was actually cool about it and just kinda was ok then walked away.

The first time i came across ZADR I couldn't stop laughing. I had to step away from the computer a couple of times to calm down but as soon as i came back i'd start laughing again

I'm not quite sure why considering the fanfic i was reading was fairly explicit and not actually funny |D
